2024 Lovie Special Achievement Winners
Brian Eno, 2024 Lovie Lifetime Achievement
From experimenting at the forefront of generative art—stretching from 1975 to his most recent self-titled generative feature film—Brian Eno has made outsized contributions across the realms of music, art, and activism. Self-titled “Eno,” the film offers a unique experience thanks to the Brain One software. Directed by Gary Hustwit and developed with digital artist Brendan Dawes, the film offers the viewer 52 quintillion possible versions. We’re thrilled to recognise an approach which showcases an ethical use case for AI in entertainment, not trained on other people’s documentaries, to ensure integrity and originality. For his exceptional work that will leave a lasting impact on the internet’s cultural landscape, we’re honouring Eno with the 2024 Lovie Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dame Pat McGrath, DBE, 2024 Lovie Special Achievement
Through sheer creativity and dynamic use of the internet, Dame Pat McGrath is leading the future of beauty culture, both online and offline. As the world’s most influential makeup artist, McGrath has consistently set new standards with trends that have captivated audiences globally and influenced modern culture—think trends like the revolutionary ‘glass skin’ for Maison Margiela. Her brand, Pat McGrath Labs, exemplifies this pioneering spirit with highly sought-after collections that sell out almost instantly. By using social media to break down traditional barriers and demystify beauty practices, she has positioned herself as an accessible figure in the industry, challenging the notion of gatekeeping. The Lovie Awards is proud to honour McGrath with a 2024 Lovie Special Achievement Award for her exceptional impact indefining the digital age of beauty.

Beyond his culinary skills, Giuseppe’s approach promotes environmental sustainability and highlights the health benefits of a plant-based diet, effectively reducing the stigma surrounding veganism. His social media presence is further enhanced by the heartwarming appearances of his Sicilian nonna, making their cooking sessions a celebration of family and Italian heritage. The Lovie Awards is honouring Paola Cortellesi as the 2024 Lovie Film & Video Person of the Year Award for her profound impact on European Internet culture by elevating powerful narratives in pursuit of equality and empathy within society. Her directorial debut “There’s Still Tomorrow” (“C’è Ancora Domani”) became a cinematic sensation, the film’s powerful narrative sparked shockwaves across the internet as it premiered in 2023 for exploring themes like femicide and societal violence against women. It’s evident “There’s Still Tomorrow” struck a major chord in Italian society, becoming the region’s highest-grossing film of 2023 and the most successful ever directed by an Italian woman. Cortellesi’s poignant portrayal of societal challenges not only mirrored but also amplified the zeitgeist, making the film a powerful catalyst for social reflection and change in Italy.
