An in-depth look at disposables and nicotine strength.

Disposable vapes are great in certain circumstances. They’re unrivalled in terms of convenience and ease of use, but you need to be careful about the amount of nicotine that’s in them. The deceptive thing about e-liquid in single use devices is that it’s nic salt. This means that despite the high strength, it’s still smooth and has little to no throat hit. So let’s go into a little more detail regarding disposables and nicotine strength.

How Much Nicotine Is In A Disposable Vape?

That entirely depends on your chosen device, as the brand you use may have different options.

In the UK the maximum strength is 2.0% or 20mg, and most disposables on the market are this strength. This equates to smoking around 20-25 cigarettes per day. The reason for this is that the The Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR) restricts the amount of nicotine that can legally be sold.

As a warning, I will state that there are devices being sold illegally in the UK that can be as high as 5% or 50mg. Whilst Trading Standards are cracking down on the sale of illegal disposables, they are still out there. So, it’s worthwhile checking the strength of your device, which should be clearly marked on both the kit and the packaging it came in. Rest assured, TECC.co.uk ensures all its products are TRPR compliant.

Do Disposables Come In Different Nicotine Strengths?

Yes, but only certain brands. The 2.0% strength is great if you’re a heavy smoker, but what if you’re not? Well, some companies do have lower nicotine strengths which are usually nicotine free (0%) or 1.0%. These 1.0% disposables are the roughly the same as smoking between 5-15 cigarettes per day, which is a much better option for lower strength vapers. And the 0% strength is ideal for users wishing to quit nicotine use and are only vaping to satisfy the physical aspect.

Nicotine Strengths in Popular Disposable Vapes

While most disposable ranges are only 2.0% in strength there are a few exceptions, let’s take a look.

Elf Bar 600 – This device is probably the most popular disposable that’s available, with 41 flavours to choose from. Although the choices are more limited for the lower strengths, this range is also available in 1.0% and 0%.

Riot Bar – The Riot Bar is a disposable made by Riot E-liquid. Just like the Elf Bar, this range is available in 1.0% and 0% but only has 10 flavours available. This device appeals to a more eco-friendly vaper, as it’s made from bioplastic.

VLTZ Bar – VLTZ is a popular amongst vapers for its extreme flavours. The bar is the only disposable from its trilogy of devices. Available in 1.6% and 0% with 10 fantastic flavours to choose from.

VLTZ re:fuel – Another entry from VLTZ. The re:fuel is a rechargeable and refillable disposable. This means that it’s much better value for money, as each bottle is the equivalent of 5 disposables. There are 14 different flavours available in 1.6%, 1.0% and 0%.
